When I first heard this song it hit me in such a way that I just couldn’t believe that someone could write such a song.  I felt the same way when I saw the movie Passion of the Christ, who could write such a story….only God.  I am thankful that God gives the words to writers to touch us in such a way that we fall to our knees in humility.  Who am I that God would even care about me….according to the world -a nobody but in God’s eyes someone who can do great things for Him!

God knows everything about us because He created us.  He showed the real meaning of love, not what we characterize love as in today’s world.  We say we love everything, so we have watered down the true meaning of love. ” ¹⁶This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.” (1 John 3:16).  When you think about love in this manner…do we really know love….would you lay down your life for your brother?  Someone you don’t even know.  That is why God is the God of all the earth.  He looks on us with love even when we don’t obey, when we stray from his word, when we sin, and when we don’t love each other.  He sees past our sin with unconditional love.

When you put yourself in comparison with this vast world and how minuet we really are in the big scheme of things it puts life in perspective.  God gave us morning stars (angels) to guide us on our daily journey.  He doesn’t do it because of who we but because of who He is….we are flesh and sin every minute so how could we do the right thing every single time. 

Our lives are just a blink in the eyes of the Lord…”here today and gone tomorrow”.

This song was written after one of their sons was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. A simple reminder for him that God WILL get His glory even through the difficult times.

If you are like the writer, then I am sure that you have been through so many things in your own life that you can only praise God in the midst of it.  But if you are human like the rest of the world, then you may have days that you just want to sit in your puddles of rain and get soaking wet.  But God did not call us to do that, He called us to glorify Him and if we all need a little rain then BRING IT ON! 

I find that people look to you more when you can praise Him, when all they would do is cry, have a pity party, get angry, or just shut out the world.  There are numerous references to scripture in the area of praising God in everything.  Sometimes I know this is easier said than done. Like Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:1-2:26; she is still bringing praises to her Lord for a child and then we delight in her joy when God grants her desires for a child.  Looking further into the Hebrew society, they viewed having children as  a blessing, much like we do today; but they also viewed being barren as a curse.  But did they actually think that God was cursing them, I am not sure and maybe there are some of you out there who feel that whatever you have been through or what you are going through, that God is cursing you.  I do not believe that God is cursing you or was cursing Hannah.  God allows things to happen in our lives and I believe it is to glorify Him, in the midst of the rain. 

Paul, in Acts 16:19-34, is being persecuted, beaten and thrown in prison with Silas but he still sings praises to our Lord. No matter what Paul went through, he was still rejoicing and praising His Lord in the storm. How I want to have that unshakeable faith that no matter what trials may come, what storms may blow through, what tragedy will take place that I, little me, would shout out with love, adoration, praise and love for my King.  I am such a work in progress and pray that I am becoming more like Jesus everyday but I am weak and Know without a shadow of a doubt that I need my Lord to walk with me every single day, minute by minute and hour by hour until He comes back. 

No matter what you are experiencing today, trust that God loves you, he has not forsaken or abandoned you.  You may be saying how can you say that….oneday I will post my testimony but rest assure that I too have had my storms. No, I was not always quick to praise Him but I did always pour out my soul to my Father and knew that He heard me.  His timing is always perfect.
